Coronavirus ‘might’ be sexually transmitted.
As the Coronavirus keeps spreading world-wide with over 2 Million cases recorded by John Hopkins university many scientists are rushing with vaccine clinical trials. A small research carried out by UCLA team has indicated the virus can be spread via sex.
There were traces of the virus in semen collected from a patient. The semen load was enough and still active to be passed on to the next person via sex. Although the research is not conclusive and the full impact not yet known the news may mean many more will be infected Doctor Anne Romoin said.
A local experts based in Harare called the research very scary. ‘We all were told to wash our hands and practice social distancing but never about sex. Even though the full research is not yet out it is important for people to be educated. You don’t want to come home and only pass the virus to your loved ones via sex’.
Of much worry to the expert is the higher HIV cases in Zimbabwe and African continent. ‘Most of our people have underlaying conditions already and adding Covid19 will likely make it worse. We have not educated the people about safety, Zimbabwe can beat the virus and open up fast but after we increase tests’.
Meanwhile in the US the Trump administration has been badly criticized for not wearing face masks this as two staffers in the Vice Presidential’s office tested positive for the virus. The highly contagious virus also keeps increasing in South Africa following easing of lockdown measures in that country. As at 7 May the country had almost 9000 infections with 663 having been reported in 24 hours.
